A World Full Of Introverts

A World Full Of Introverts

Every relationship in this world is propelled by emotions. Emotions that we express to other people, emotions that people have for us. Love, hate, fear, anger, animosity, care, ignorance are all part the various relationships that we come across while we are on this journey of life. Some relationships last forever, some die an untimely death while some just fade away from our lives with the passage of time. The clarity of every relationship lies in a person's ability to express the true emotion to the other but then there is a group of people who are just not equipped enough to do the same, the INTROVERTS.
People usually mistake introverts as numb-hearted. They are seen as people who not only are failures in expressing their own emotions but also as the ones who fail to sympathise with others. When we segregate people on their ability to express, we usually place the extroverts (the ones who express overtly) a touch above the introverts, we also rate the extroverts higher on the emotional quotient while many of us see introverts as just cold, emotion-less.
But this is how the world has been functioning since its inception, by judging a book through its cover. No matter how deep and insightful the book be, we will not start reading it until its cover attracts us. This is the case with introverts, they are like a book full of emotions that is kept on our book shelf but we hesitate to pick it up and start reading it.
This is where I would like to put up a question to everyone.
Aren't we all introverts?
While some people are introverts all the time, others become one according to situations. An extrovert may be a book with a fancy cover that becomes a best seller and everyone reads it but it still has that one chapter which is still oblivious to its reader. That chapter most of the time obliterates the real meaning of the book. It does convey a meaning to the reader but only the author knows that the inclusion of that one chapter would change the tone of the book completely. Yet the introvert-ial forces working inside a complete extrovert person makes her want to hide this from the world.

This brings me to the point where I would categorise people into three categories that we usually find around us.

COMPLETE INTROVERTS - These are the people who never let an emotion come to their face, they do have a lot of emotions building up inside them but their channel of getting out those emotions is not their face. The world is oblivious of their sufferings and see them as numb-hearted.

SITUATIONAL INTROVERTS - These are the people who are called extroverts by others but they still have things inside them that they would not share with the world. The world sees them as people who are inside out to everyone but in reality they are not. There are situations when they become introverts but it goes unnoticed.

PSEUDO EXTROVERTS - Now this is a category of people I haven't mentioned before. Some people who appear to be extroverts but are not. The cover of this book is completely different from what its contents are. They are seen as people who can articulate their expressions but in reality the things they are able to put forth are just to hide the turmoil going inside them. To me these pseudo extroverts are the real introverts.

The crux of what I wanted to say is that, everyone is an introvert. No matter how good we articulate about what we feel, there is still that one thing inside we would not share with anyone but us and that makes us an introvert, maybe of a lesser degree.
Even and extrovert is an introvert who knows how to express some of her feelings. This world then is full of introverts.
Agree or not, but this something I believe.

At The Behest Of Time

At The Behest Of Time

As I rummaged through the pages of my journal, I was brought vis-a-vis to a version of myself that was hitherto unknown (even to me). As ambiguous as that may sound, the only thing that struck my mind was the passage of time.

In 2010, The main goals of my life were to become a better cricketer and in the process get a girlfriend or two, show the world how flamboyant my personality was (it was a complete opposite of that) and I was living in this illusionary world even when I was talking to myself.

In 2011, the cricketer dream took a backseat and I was acquainted with the world of books. I read romantic novels, saw films of the same genre and I wanted to fall in love.

2012 changed my life completely. I was encumbered with responsibilities and in the process I wanted to write, write about the year after which I saw the world in a different light. Cricketer dreams went completely obsolete.

Now in 2013, I am contemplating my past years as they bring a smile to my face.
It is true that over the years I have grown from an imbecile to a less imbecile person but back then I never knew I would be laughing at myself. Some years from now I would be laughing at this as well.

But that is how time becomes a teacher in our lives. We all learn with each second that we live on this Earth. Time teaches us that life in not a simple train ride taking us from one station to another, it is a roller coaster ride that shows us the vicissitudes of it.
When we sit back and reminisce, we don't remember that simple train journey but we never forget the roller coaster rides we have been on.
I did not know the person I was back then, but not knowing is the beauty of it. Now that I read my journal (which I prefer calling my time machine to the past) I have things to remember, laugh at them and even cry.
The reminiscing into the past through my time machine also informed me about the times I have been brought to ground and I got up. Not only that they tell me about the capricious nature of life but also about courage which the more immature version of me had.
Whenever I am at an impasse, I remember the time I had tackled one with efficiency in the past.
We all have a past, a past we are partly proud of and partly embarrassed. But the past remains ours. People say one should forget the past as it hinders the growth. But sometimes, just look into your past and see how much you have already grown, it will surely bring a smile to your face, like it brought to mine.

Homosexuality in India

The moment I woke up today, I was shocked. The apex of judgement in India, The Supreme Court had ruled out section 377 and hence from now on two people of the same sex engaging in consensual sex is illegal. Social Media since then had been flooded with hate messages and disappointment.

What triggered this retrograde judgement then?

Over the time I observed the behavior of our society and it is very similar to what the judgement has been, Regressive.

What is the first thought that comes across your mind when you see a HOMOSEXUAL ?

You think of the person as an outcast, demented, queer and intimidating or you think of him/her as a normal conventional person with a different sexual orientation?

The above question becomes rhetoric for most of us because accept it or not most of us start producing repelling waves as soon as we see a homosexual in sight.

In colloquial terms, we throw words that describe homosexuals as abuses. Why do we discriminate between the heterosexuals and homosexuals? Is it because  Homosexuality does not have the privilege to reproduce and that is unnatural?

NO, it is because we are being taught form Day 1 that marriage is a sacrosanct institution between a man and a woman, no one left the room for an exception. People might even argue that it is something the modern world has developed but various ancient sculptures and paintings are a proof that homosexuality existed since the inception of Human race.

That takes me to another question, What is the definition of love?

Is it a feeling that is limited for a woman towards a man and vice-versa? If so, then your love towards the people from your own sex is nullified, this might include your filial relationships as well but if love is an exclusive inter-gender matter then even that category of Love is illegal.

The homosexuals battle for their rights around the world, the battle to accept them into this world. They are not asking for special privileges but for the world to accept them.

This brings me to another question, Why do the society cares so much about a person loving another one of the same sex?

This hypocritical society does not question the sanctity of marriage when a man and a woman gets divorced, they don't ask the question to the person who has liaisons with women, they do not disapprove polygamy but when it comes to accepting Homosexuality they disapprove.

Think of the pros if Homosexuality is accepted in our society,

The children abandoned after the "SACRED MAN-WOMAN" marriages would be easily adopted by these couples, The people who are covertly living with their partners would come out in open and live a free, dignified life.

I would end it with one thing, Homosexuals are GAY, they are happy and no one on this earth has a right to take away happiness from a person. They are asking us to accept them in the society, so the next time you are acquainted by a homosexual person, don't be afraid because you are much safer with him/her than the perverts who are heterosexual.

THINK...!!!!!

Return of FRIENDS

This is an article I wrote almost 2 years ago on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Now that the NBC has confirmed that there will be an 11th season in 2014, I can, in a way say that what I wanted when I wrote this has come true. I hope these are not rumors.

In 1994, 6 friends began their journey on the small screen & ended it 10 years later but not before multiplying themselves into millions. This super successful TV series had many viewers & moreover, tons of admirers which helped it reach the place it is today. The always Sarcastic & funny ‘Chandler’ (Matthew Perry), The smart paleontologist ‘Ross’ (David Schwimmer), The hot imbecile actor ‘Joey (Matt Le Blanc), The uncanny blonde ‘Pheobe’ (Lisa Kudrow), The sweet & sexy ‘Rachel’ (Jennifer Aniston) & the scrupulous ‘Monica’ (Courtney Cox) formed the cast of the show.

The show aired its’ 10 seasons & yet we wished there were more. FRIENDS keeps you glued to the TV sets and the popularity of the show can be judged by the fact that the repeats of it are still being shown on TV. The series is a situational comedy which revolves around the lives of 6 friends & how they tackle the various problems in the battlefield of life without drifting the plot away from the genre of the show i.e Comedy. Keeping a smile on their faces they also ensure that it remains there on the face of the audience.

In one decade that belonged to FRIENDS, it changed the orthodox rule of having friends. Everyone now craved to have a group like the one in FRIENDS. Apart from the group, they probably wanted a girl friend as hot as Jennifer Aniston or have a sense of humor as breathtaking as Matthew Perry. The curtain to the show fell in 2004 but the essence of it is still felt in the air. Watching FRIENDS is still as enjoyable as used to be before. But we, the die-hard fans won’t mind if a season 11 comes showing their lives 8 years from where the story ended.

Possible things that we would love in the new season would be Chandler & Monica facing a financial crisis which lands them back to the famous apartment of FRIENDS which is there in all the seasons. Joey despite growing old is still single and living his Casanova life, the “How You Doin’ ” of his is still as charming as ever. Rachel & Ross are married but still have that empty void that can only be filled by the group. Phoebe who was married to Mike is feeling lonely as Mike stays out most of the time after being a famous pianist. These circumstances lands up all of them together again to “Central Perk” where it all began.

Over the years after FRIENDS went off air, many sitcoms were made and were hits as well but still FRIENDS remained the quintessential sitcom. Even after watching the repeats it feels as if it’s your first glimpse at the episode. The joke you heard so many times that you can even consider giving a title of a cliché, sounds incredibly funny just because it was from Chandler. Some people (like me) are really obsessed by this TV series & would want this to be immortal. A new episode of FRIENDS everyday is something that will be similar to oxygen for my body.

Delhi Elections

For the initial 18 years of my life, I had been oblivious to politics in Delhi. The answer to the question 'Who is the CM of Delhi?' Was a spontaneous Sheila Dixit.

It is time to change that.

I have been to rallies, heard all these experienced politicians and pondered upon their claims yet they failed to persuade me.

An year back I heard about this political party formed by social activists who before that played a major role in one of the biggest public protests post-independence. I never heard their leader at any rally, never met any of their volunteer or supporter yet I was convinced to vote for them.

All the other speeches delivered by all the powerful leaders were hollow to me in front of this idea of a political party giving power to the 'Aam Aadmi'.

As an individual I was impressed by the power of this idea of a party that convinced me to vote for them while the speeches and promises of others didn't.

I as an independent voter of India would like to give them a chance.

The Sky Is The Limit - Unmukt Chand

The only important thing that helps a story take the shape of a book is the author's belief in it. 'The Sky is the Limit' is all about Unmukt Chand's belief in the word 'Believe'. This book beautifully captures the whole journey of this World Cup winning captain from the 4 year old Unmukt who believed in the power of the bat and holding it, to the 19 year old Unmukt who believed in his team and brought India its first U-19 World Cup outside Asia.
For people who doubt the power of the word 'Believe', I think this is the one book they should read. It inspires, it takes you on a journey of self-discovery moreover after realising that this book is written by a 20 year old who has already become a household name, the reader will feel that nothing in this world is impossible.
'The Sky is the Limit' Unmukt's debut book is published by Penguin India.
Read, get inspired and inspire this writer to write even more.
Go grab a copy and take 'The Sky is the limit' beyond the skies.

The Last Test SRT 200

Sachin Sachin

When I started watching cricket Sachin was winning matches for India, single handedly. When I became a cricket aficionado, Sachin was re-writing record books and finally when I was addicted to cricket, my addiction for the game was confined to one prodigious figure named, Sachin Tendulkar.
World cricket without SRT would now fall into ambiguity. On one hand it would cherish the fact that a player has reached the pinnacle of this game while on the other hand it would lament the fact that a player who set new benchmarks for others is leaving the game. But 50 years from now, people would be compared to SRT like they are to Bradman now because of some records that would still have Sachin etched into them.
Now, when India will loose its 2nd wicket, I won't leave my work and stay glued to the TV. When a player would hit a century, I won't fall into a never-ending euphoria. Now I won't get a player's name printed on the back of my favourite T-shirt and I won't do all of this because there won't be a Sachin Tendulkar taking guard in front of me.

The Lopsided Cricket

Its hard to see how lopsided this game has become.

Each and everything about it is now about Batsmen.

On one hand I am elated because another Indian scored a hitherto unprecedented 200 in ODIs but on the other I feel for the bowlers who put in copious amounts of efforts into each delivery only to end up with an economy rate of over 8 an over.

No new rule has been made recently that would aid the bowlers and a series with all its matches producing games with 300 is a child's play is more appalling to me while it should be entertaining.

This drastic shift is an alarm for the people managing this sport as these 350+ games are discouraging for the young cricketers who want to grow up and become bowlers.

Even the viewers enjoy a 6 or 4 above a good quality over bowled. Break the shackles and bring in a balance to this scale of cricket bent towards the batting side.

PS- Well played Rohit Sharma, never meant to take the spot light away from you but it had to be said.

Being a Middle Class Indian : A Curse and a Bane.

Being a Middle Class Indian: A Curse and a Bane

An obese man in his late 30s, riding his scooter with his wife on the pillion & children adjusted somewhere on the undefined parts of the seat is an image of what we portray of a stereotypical middle class family. The head of the family might be wearing a smile on his face but what lies beneath is what we are unaware of. The rent of the house is due, the EMI for the education loan of his children is to be paid and so many little things that are to be cleared out but the spending for the month has already crossed the set budget. This might be the breaking limit of his concern as loans and rents are all he can think of. A stress free life is all he coveted but fortune of a luxurious life is denied to him. Are the middle class people in India restricted to these things and have no other option to bring about a change in their lifestyle?vote bank, small Probably not because fighting to fulfill the daily needs tires him out.

The struggle to get basic facilities is something that refrains the middle class people to strive for what they aspire or in simple words restricts them from dreaming and taking risks. Even one wrong step might paralyze his life & moreover his family would face the perils of his wrong doing.

In India, the common middle class or say the cattle class man is just another vote for the leaders. His life is addendum to the vote bank and his death is just a deduction to it, other than that no one is concerned about him. Just to get his one file cleared he has to loosen up his pocket. At hospitals, where the cost of treatments are reaching sky high now, there is no source for the middle class man to get his treatment done and has to be settled with a low quality treatment instead depending upon his little budget. In order to ensure a prosperous future for his children he even saves a large part of his dwarf sized income. The always rising rate of inflation and fuel hikes aren’t helping his cause dragging him into a spot of bother. Majority of population in India falls in the cattle class which should have been a boon for them but this class is the most vulnerable of all making it a boon of being cursed for them.

The problems faced by the middle class is not new to our society. Even many writers have mentioned the cattle class in their prestigious works. Hindi Contemporary writer Rajesh Joshi in his poem “ITYA-AADI” which means etcetera has written the bitter truth about this class. He said in his poem that the etceteras are the people who are found to be most in number but are also ignored the most in this world. Only the rich people are noticed in this world. All others live and die as “ITYA-AADIs”. This modern day work portrays the truth that we see around us and pretend to be unaware of.

The struggling class as we can also call them forms a faction of people that have to endeavor themselves to do something which they might hate. The Government has plans for the people falling below the poverty line or farmers while the rich pay taxes that help government execute these schemes. The cattle class neither becomes a part of the schemes nor they get other advantages but have to pay taxes instead. Thus this cream of the population falls somewhere in between the rich and the poor. This corroborates the point that the only respite left for them is hard work. The Government should also come up with plans for people like this who have dreams in their eyes but have to let those fall out with the tears. Now can the Government solve the conundrum of this section of the society to secure their future and pull their forgotten dreams out of the abyss and change the flow of tears forcing them backwards?

Pit stops in life

Pit stops in life

What are problems??
They are nothing but a bunch of sporadic pit stops that we come across as we progress ahead in the Grand Prix of life. The moment we enter this Earth we become a new entrant to this race inadvertently and the moment we start our engines to race, we are tethered to a set of rules ergo these pit stops are a crucial part of the whole scenario irrespective of what we want.
From the leaders to laggards, all have to make pit stops during this race, some lose momentum while some gain it but the main thing that decides our new position on the track is the time taken during the pit stop.
If having a problem in life is like entering the pit lane then the time spent solving it during the pit stop will decide our position in the race. Some times we would just forget about everything and wait for that missing 4th nut-bolt to fit into our tyre. This 4th part may take up a lot of our time but the car just wont move an inch ahead without it. We might risk joining the race without that spare part but eventually we are pushed back into the pits with a much more complicated pit stop this time. We then become obstinate and want that 4th nut-bolt but forget about the available replacements. The moment we realise that we rejoin the race, probably at the back, trailing way behind.
This example of problems in life to an F1 race is to explain that life is an ongoing race and the more time we spend pondering upon problems is the time we lose out on the race track. Sure these pitstops give our life a variable pace but sometimes when we waste time contemplating one issue, we lose interest in the race.
One thing is important, no matter how much time we spend in the pits, the battle out on the track is important. Your rank in this race does not matter because even the participants in an F1 race are handsomely rewarded.
So no matter how many times you enter the pit lane, just make sure you are out of it as soon as possible to finish this Grand Prix of life on the podium.

Sachin Tendulkar

Dear Sachin,

I still remember the time I wished for 2 wickets to fall quickly so that you would come out to bat.

I still remember the time when I used to fight with my friends when they doubted your credibility.

I still remember the time I entered a never ending euphoria the moment you raised your bat.

I still remember the time when I wished you stayed at the non-striker end because I was scared that you might get out

I still remember the time I held that bat for the first time with a dream to play alongside you one day

And

I will always remember the time you played for my country, made me believe in cricket more than any other religion and brought me vis-a-vis to passion and devotion.

I have become so numb, everything around me stands still because now is the time to bid adieu but there a place in every Indian's heart reserved for a man named Sachin Tendulkar. You made people of this nation love cricket the way they do now

We Love you and the cricket field will never be the same again.

Even after this conformation our eyes will search for that no.10 jersey and that 187 inscribed on your shirt...

Yours Lovingly,

One of the infinite fans that you have...

F.R.I.E.N.D.S - A sitcom that became an obsession

F.R.I.E.N.D.S - A sitcom that became an obsession

End of an era...is it??

As I walked into the stadium last night, I was prepared to witness the end of an era. The level of excitement was at its pinnacle but It wasn't the only emotion that my heart exuded. There was a fear running inside me, I was scared, scared of the fact that this is the last time. This is the end. I should call myself and the 26,000 other people present there lucky but I would restrain myself from doing that. We would have been lucky if we got what we wished for. I personally wished that this era continued in the same flamboyant way as it has been but the luck was just not on my side.
Yesterday I saw two of my heroes, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, take guard for the very last time in coloured uniforms, together. The relevance of their last appearance was resonant from the large turn up at the stadium and the copious amount of emotions that pervaded the air were palpable. As both the legends walked onto the field to bat in their respective innings, the loud cheers in the ground were in immeasurable decibels, yet nothing less than a symphony to the ears.
For the 20 years that I have known and played this game, the only answer to 'What is Cricket according to you?' was, a game played by Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and thousands other players who would come and go. The time they both were at the crease yesterday made me nostalgic, all those times I sat in front of the TV and cheered for them were right in front of my eyes. The ovations they received from the crowd gave me chills, they gave me goosebumps.
There is an expiration date to almost everything that exists on this Earth but for some obvious reasons I evaded the printed dates on these two products.
Though Sachin Tendulkar will still be seen in whites, Rahul Dravid will never be seen on the field again.
You made me love Cricket the way I do now and I will always be your biggest fan.
The world of Cricket will miss you the way no one has ever missed anyone before.

Navratras - The never ending fad

Navratras

Today is the first day of the sacrosanct Navratras which binds us, the omnivores, to give up flesh for a while. During the next 9 days we would be voluntarily creating a famine of non veg, thus making it covetable after this period. But do all of us believe in the sanctity of these auspicious 9 days?
Many of us do it because of the fear of God, some do it to not offend their religious parents while some do it to preserve an image in the social groups they belong to.
We give up on meat because we might feel that God is watching us all and he might reprimand us for this act of cruelty but how can we be sure that God is only active during these 9 days. If having flesh is an act of cruelty for 9 days, then it must be the same through out the year.
But this is a fad in our society and it will certainly remain one for a very long time.
If you are a flesh eater then giving up for 9 days wont make a difference. Sure, people do it because of their faith but in reality you are either a vegetarian or not, this is just an act of faith but it wont make any difference because God has created you and he will love you despite your    preference in food.
The Tiger on which the Goddess sits is a carnivore and would starve to death if not given flesh for 9 days.

The Perforated Sheet

THE PERFORATED SHEET

Amidst a trillion,
We are more than a billion.
Amidst that billion,
One man stood alone to make the ends meet,
But what he saw,
Was a life through the perforated sheet.

He saw her getting married during her teen,
He protested this enigma,
But this is how it has always been.
Completely baffled from head to his feet,
What he didn’t realize,
He was seeing life through the perforated sheet.

She was a goddess, worshipped by all,
During the day, on top of this world;
But at night suffered a massive fall
Abused, beaten & bruised to death;
She was helpless & fettered,
& was made to pay even for her single breath
He visited her with a sympathetic greet;
Advising her to revolt, but forgot;
He was seeing life through the perforated sheet.

She wants to read, she wants to learn;
She dreams to be educated,
But has been told to wait for her turn
This wait might never end,
Her turn will never come.
& so, inside;
He has developed immense heat.
But was stymied by one thing,
He was seeing life through the perforated sheet.

She wants to fly like a bird;
She sets the flight, touches the sky,
& brought back to the tether of a turd
She faces a crime which is a national shame;
Her life now is not easy,
Her life now is not the same.
He is now suffocated,
He raised his voice against this turd;
But was brutally beaten on the street,
What suddenly flashed across his mind,
He was seeing life through the perforated sheet.

He is tired;
He is vexed,
No more interested in that hole,
As it leaves him depressed
He wants her world to be free,
No more pores in the canvas,
He wished she lives with glee.
He tried to make the two ends meet;
But the truth is,
The thing that pall this nation,
Is this perforated sheet

Question Everything

We are taught to question everything before believing in them. No matter how incontrovertible the statement might be, we are told to question it till our inner-self is completely satisfied.
Then why aren't we allowed to question religion?
A 10 year old boy oblivious from the various traditions and beliefs that pervade in the society is perplexed by the atrocities he witnessed around him, questions his Father.

SON: Why do you want me to go there? The snake around the neck of that blue man terrifies me. We have to go there barefoot and the floor is hot, it hurts me.

FATHER: You barely know how to talk and you are disrespecting your own God?

SON: My God? No one gave me a chance to choose my God, I don't like the God you take me to. I like the one with an elephant head and even that lady sitting on a lion. I like lions daddy.

FATHER: You are a Hindu, all these Gods are same, If you want we can go to the temple you like.

SON: So we can go to that place where people wear small caps on their heads? I always wanted to meet the person who wakes me up every morning with his singing. I will tell him to lower his volume, I want to sleep more till my vacations end.

FATHER: Please God forgive this child. You don't they are muslims. They are not our people, their God is different.

SON: But daddy you just said that all these Gods are same.

FATHER (completely vexed): Leave it, go get ready we are going to the Temple we went yesterday.

SON: I do not want to go there, I hate that place. They do not let didi and mumma enter and they berate me for eating from my left hand. I won't go there. What is wrong with both of them that they do not let them in and I can't eat from my right, how is it my fault?

FATHER (slaps him): You adamant child, you want to change how this world has been functioning till now? Go to your room.

SON (crying): But I don't like the way it works.

This is the harsh reality of our society. We are not given an option to choose our God, our God is the one our Family has been following since inception. Religions create divides as well, be it inter-religion or intra-religion, divides do exist.
Religion divides a human into Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jew etc. while the divisions that are intra-religion are more farcical. A division between a right handed person and a left handed person where the left handed person is a sinister. A division between menstruating females and non-menstruating male where menstruating females are considered dirty. How is it a person's fault when she eats from her left or she menstruates?
We are also told that God has created everything that is there in the world. Then if that is true then the left handers, menstruating females, low caste people all are created by him. If people consider these factions as outcasts of the society then it is proven that God is not the almighty, he has made copious amount of mistakes.
These atrocities I witness around me makes me more sure that in order to find God the only place I do not have to look for are these religions. People refuse to question anything dubious in their own religion. Why? When we clearly can find loopholes in them why is it difficult for them to question that. May be that would tarnish the pristine reputation of their religion but if there are loopholes how can it be pristine?
Next time, question everything that you are told to do moreover question yourself when you discriminate because of a caste because everyone is created by God ergo we all belong to that one caste.

Mentorship

Mentorship

What is anyone's life without someone who can guide you through this series of confusions called life?
In the quest of life we all have to walk the path alone and throughout this onerous journey we come across some never ending impasse, in those moments of despair we slightly glance back at the path we covered looking for a glimpse of hope that can fuel our journey forward and we see that face our heart desired. Imperturbable, unmoved and carrying copious amount of faith in us, we regain that determination to tackle life single handedly. That is the role of a mentor,to sail us through the inextricable situations in life, to put your comfort ahead of their own, to always have a shoulder ready for you when the going gets tough. Having a mentor in life always gives a person that feeling of confinement which no other face in the crowd possesses. They are there when you are in trouble, they are there when you need a support, when you need guidance, when you need advice. They are the propellers to your boat. They catch you when you fall, show you light in the dark, pull you out of an abyss. Ergo a mentor becomes the most important part of your life.
Some find one early in life the others just walk through the labyrinth waylaid by problems and carry forward dejected when they can't find that placating face in the crowd.
That hollow feeling of not having a mentor in life can bring a person down instead become your own mentor, look in the mirror and find hope, find guidance, find that ray of light that will guide through the impasse. Be the one no one wanted to be for you. I look back in tough times search for that face in the crowd, when i can't find it I look in the mirror and advice my own self, I write to inspire myself. I guess not having a mentor makes you a WRITER...

That Time Of The Year

That Time Of The Year

When,
The heaven bestows,
The skies roar,
When,
The air breathes,
A gentle breeze,
When,
The clouds score,
It rains galore.
When,
The Sun's truant,
Vista gallant.
When,
The vision's green,
Pristine,
And then,
The humble chill placates,
The trees shed a tear,
It is,
That time of the year.

Problems

Problems

Problems, We are all born with our share of them. Some of us face them at the dawn of our lives while some of us have to wait till the dusk of  life's twilight.  But there is no single person on Earth who ever came and went without being stuck in a quandary at least once.
A Herculean task  for people in such predicaments thus becomes to come out of it unscathed. But do we really do what is the need of that hour?
A majority of people whine about the myriads of problems they have in Life, some act like magnets to sympathies while some just cry, contemplate and accept the problem as a part of their lives. A few take a step further and fight the battle with their problems but those brave-hearts belong to a fringe which are at the pinnacle of the macrocosm of problem-solving.  We are not talking about that faction because even I do not belong to that group. Most of us are "Whiners" while they are "Winners".
Are the problems we face individually so adverse that nothing on the face of this Earth can solve it?
The transfer from the team of "Whiners" to the team of "Winners" requires courage. In moments of despair, we have to look around ourselves and the source of courage will emanate.
Those sources can be anything. Think of that person who lost her hands very young yet she possesses a degree. Think of that person who lost her parents very young and still goes on to become the CEO of a company. Think of that person who lived a precarious life for 20 years and yet clears the much coveted IAS exam. Think of that person who is blind yet explores the world.
We have many options to eradicate the problems from our life, good or bad but we have many. Suicide is also an option but the people pondering about ending their lives due to a problem think they are leaving this world for good. They forget that the moment they leave this world is encumbered with more grief, more sorrow, more problems.
The solutions to problems are within us, they depend upon the choices we make. It is difficult to avoid problems from one's life but once it appears the duration of suffering depends upon the choices we make. We might choose the team of "Whiners" but keep one thing in mind they never win ergo the process for their team selection is the easiest. "Winners" don't select their candidates easily, there is a rigorous procedure that requires an arduous journey to reach the end but the few selected in their squad always face this world with head held high.
Which team would you rather be "Winners" or "Whiners" ?
Think about it the next time you are stuck at an impasse.
